Offering a handshake after a match.

It's very important from our perspective, especially when you talk about role-modeling. One of the things I think we shouldn't forget about is that the battle that goes on during the match ends when the match is over. And you continue to have respect for your opponent whether you won or lost.

EFAカップの開会式で、一つだけ選手のみんなにお願いをしました。

「試合が終わったら握手で健闘を讃えあってほしい」と。

勝っても負けても握手で終わる。印象的な選手には「良いプレーだったね」と相手チームだったとして声をかけてほしい。

褒められた選手は自信になり、褒めた選手はその選手に追いつこうと意識する。同じサッカーをする仲間であり、刺激し合えるライバルでもある。

歪み合って終わる試合なんて誰も見たくないし、得るものはないのだから。
